The Reflection is the story pillar of Axis and the emotional foundation of the entire body of work.

It is not a traditional memoir, a self-help book, or a polished account arranged to make a life appear cleaner than it was. It is a record of memory, grief, addiction, sobriety, family, love, shame, honesty, and the long process of becoming whole enough to look back without turning away.

This is where Axis begins at the human level.

Before the methods, before the spiritual inquiry, before the structure of Axis became visible, there was the act of telling the truth. One reflection at a time, the book traces a life through descent and recovery, fragmentation and coherence, concealment and honest witness.

The Reflection is my story, but it is meant to function as more than a window into someone else’s life. It can also be read as a mirror.

Its purpose is not to ask for admiration, agreement, or sympathy. Its purpose is recognition. If something in these pages helps you see your own grief, love, memory, survival, or unfinished becoming more clearly, then the book has done what it was meant to do.

Within Axis, this is the first book and the place to begin.
